In a decisive move to curtail illegal arms trafficking and bolster security in Plateau State, troops of the 3 Division and Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE successfully uncovered and confiscated a significant cache of weapons and ammunition in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. Acting upon credible intelligence reports indicating the stockpiling of illegal arms by criminal bandits, the task force launched a targeted raid in Rawaya Village near Kazok.
The operation, conducted on 19 October 2025, led to the recovery of an assortment of deadly firearms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, a revolver pistol, multiple rifle magazines, and over a thousand rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition. Alongside the arms were three mobile phones and other miscellaneous items believed to be connected to the criminal network. The suspect, a known bandit leader, managed to escape prior to the troops’ arrival, intensifying ongoing efforts by security personnel to bring him and his accomplices to justice.

Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of Operation ENDURING PEACE, emphasized the operation’s significance in disrupting criminal supply chains and reinforcing regional peace and security. “Operation ENDURING PEACE remains unwavering in its resolve to dismantle illegal arms networks and ensure the safety of the Joint Operations Area,” he stated.

Authorities have taken custody of the recovered weapons and are conducting further investigations to trace additional criminal elements involved. The military has vowed sustained offensive actions against banditry and illegal arms dealers to safeguard communities in Plateau and beyond.
