The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has officially declared the Oba River as the established boundary between Ibadan and Iwo. This pronouncement was made during an emergency meeting held at the Olubadan’s palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, with the attendance of other Obas, Mogajis, and Baales from the affected boundary areas.
Speaking through the Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, the Olubadan asserted that the Oba River has historically served as the demarcation line between Ibadan in Oyo State and Iwo in Osun State. He issued a strong warning to land expansionists, grabbers, and trespassers, urging them to vacate any forcefully acquired Ibadan land without delay, emphasizing that they would face consequences otherwise.
The Olubadan further implored the Obas, Mogajis, and Baales in the border regions to safeguard their territorial integrity and ensure that the ownership of Ibadan land remains secure. He called upon all traditional titleholders in the Ibadan-Iwo boundary areas to provide unwavering support to the Olubadan and the Oyo State Government in reclaiming any land that has been fraudulently taken.
This decisive declaration by the Olubadan aims to settle the ongoing land dispute between the two communities and reinforce the historically recognized boundary.
