The Ogun State Police Command has deployed a tactical team to the Ajebo community in Obafemi-Owode Local Government amid viral social media reports warning of impending violence by herdsmen. The team, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), worked alongside Amotekun, So-Safe, the Police Community Relations Committee, local hunters, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria to carry out an intelligence-driven assessment of the situation.

Investigations revealed that the Fulani residents in Ajebo are long-established peaceful settlers, having lived there for over ten years. Women and children were found in temporary shelters, with no evidence of weapons or suspicious activity. The adult males were away on trading activities in Oyo State, a normal livelihood practice. Authorities also identified a settlement in the area authorized by community leaders, including the Kabiyesi Oba Rueben Oluwole and the Baale of Alapako, both invited to meet with the Commissioner of Police for clarification.
Security forces are maintaining a precautionary surveillance presence approximately 10 kilometers from the community to ensure continued safety. The police urge residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and avoid spreading unverified information that could incite panic. This deployment aims to reassure the community and prevent unrest following misinformation about herdsmen-related violence.

Additional context shows that the Ogun State Police are actively engaged in intelligence-led operations and community partnerships to maintain peace in various parts of the state, including recent actions against criminal elements and coordination with local security groups such as So-Safe and Amotekun to enhance security effectiveness .
