The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) brought its 2025 Press Week to a grand conclusion with a dazzling celebration of the region’s vibrant cultural heritage. The event, held in Abeokuta, was a night of style, culture, and “steeze,” highlighted by the captivating display of traditional costumes representing the rich historical tapestry of the Ogun people.

One of the most striking moments of the night was the sartorial elegance of the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, himself a seasoned journalist and esteemed civil servant. His distinguished attendance underscored the deep connection between journalism and public service in Ogun State.

The festivities saw Ogun journalists reaffirm their reputation as innovators and trendsetters in the profession, seamlessly blending cultural pride with professional excellence. Their display of magnificently crafted garments, combined with a palpable sense of unity and pride, reflected the theme of the week and the enduring role of the media in society.

The event was graced by a host of dignitaries, with the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, leading the distinguished guests. Her presence amplified the significance of the occasion, showcasing the government’s continued support for the media and cultural sectors alike.

Akinwale Olanrewaju, State Chairman of NUJ, praised the participants and organizers for their dedication, acknowledging the seamless coordination by the event crew that brought the Press Week to an inspiring close. The Press Week itself featured various activities through the week, including professional symposia, outreach programs, sports competitions, and cultural days, fostering journalistic excellence and social engagement.
