Ogogo’s Family Unveils Remaining Burial Programmes, Thanks Fans, Colleagues

ValidViewNetwork can report that the family of late Nollywood icon Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has expressed profound gratitude to fans, colleagues and well-wishers for their massive turnout at his burial on Monday, August 24, 2026, while unveiling two remaining programmes to complete the burial rites.

Veteran actor Prince Jide Kosoko announced the burial programmes on behalf of the family in a Wednesday post on Facebook.

“May Allah Reward You Abundantly” ValidViewNetwork has learned that the family, through Kosoko, extended heartfelt appreciation to everyone who turned out en masse for the burial.

“To our numerous fans, friends, colleagues, associates, and well-wishers, your massive presence at the burial was a great demonstration of the love and respect you had for Ogogo while he was alive. We sincerely appreciate every one of you,” the family said.

The family added:

“We may not be able to mention names individually at this time, but Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, knows you all. May Allah reward you abundantly, bless you and your families, and ensure that no calamity comes upon you in your lifetime. We pray that your kindness and support will never go unrewarded.”

Eighth-Day Fidau Prayer

ValidViewNetwork can confirm that the 8th-day Fidau Prayer will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Ilaro.

The family has appealed to all friends, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers to continue to rally around the family during this difficult period.

“We want you to come en masse to Ilaro so that together, we can offer our prayers for the peaceful repose of our beloved colleague and ask Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” the family said.

40-Day Artists’ Day in Honour of Ogogo

ValidViewNetwork understands that a 40-day Artists’ Day will be held at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro, forty days after Ogogo’s burial.

The event will feature performances by actors, musicians, comedians, singers, and other entertainers who will come together to celebrate the life and legacy of Ogogo.

According to the family, this is a tradition and a fitting tribute from members of the entertainment industry to one of its great icons, whose contributions to the industry will not be forgotten.

The programme will be coordinated by TAMPAN — the Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria.

A Life Worth Celebrating

ValidViewNetwork can report that Ogogo’s death on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 plunged the Nigerian entertainment industry into grief.

The veteran actor, born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro, Ogun State, carved out a remarkable career in Nigerian cinema, becoming one of the most recognisable figures in Yoruba films.

The outpouring of love at his burial and the planned artists’ day reflect the deep impact he had on the industry and the lives of countless Nigerians who grew up watching him.
