OGBOMOSO –The ancient town of Ogbomoso is currently observing its annual Oro Festival, which commenced yesterday, Friday, June 13, 2025, and is set to conclude on Friday, June 20, 2025.

In adherence to traditional rites, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, has announced specific restrictions for women during the festival period. According to a statement issued by the Palace Secretary, Mr. Toyin Ajamu, all women residing within Ogbomoso township are prohibited from being on the streets between the hours of 12 midnight and 4 a.m. for the duration of the festival.
The Palace has issued a stern warning that any individual found flouting this directive will be apprehended and handed over to law enforcement agencies for appropriate action.
In addition to the movement restriction, drumming of any kind has been explicitly banned throughout the entire festival period.
The Soun of Ogbomosoland and the Palace have urged all residents to fully cooperate with these directives to ensure the peaceful and successful observance of this significant traditional event.
The community is expected to respect the age-old customs associated with the Oro Festival, fostering an environment of calm and adherence to tradition.
