Obasanjo Praises Governor Aiyedatiwa’s Leadership and Achievements

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, has lavished encomiums on Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, hailing him as a loyal, humble, and responsible leader whose remarkable achievements in office have delighted the former president.

Obasanjo made these commendations during his visit to the Government House in Akure on Saturday, where he was received warmly by Governor Aiyedatiwa and members of the state executive council. The visit preceded the 75th birthday celebration of prominent lawyer and human rights advocate, Dr Tunji Abayomi, held in Ondo State’s capital.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, Obasanjo said he was honored to be back in Ondo State and noted that seeing Governor Aiyedatiwa in attendance pleased him immensely, especially since he had believed the governor was elsewhere. “Your presence here today is a true sign of loyalty,” Obasanjo remarked.

The former president praised the governor’s rare virtues of humility and dedication to duty, emphasizing that he had been closely following the development strides made in Ondo State under Aiyedatiwa’s leadership. “The reports of your success and achievements since assuming office have been music to my ears,” he added, recalling their earlier prayers for the governor’s victory during the campaign period.

Obasanjo also expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended to him during the visit and promised to return to Ondo State soon.

In his remarks, Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked the former president for his kind words and visit, calling it a rare honor for both the government and people of Ondo State. He reflected on Obasanjo’s previous visit during the commissioning of Ojaja Park as an unforgettable moment and reiterated his administration’s commitment to robust infrastructural development, workers’ welfare, job creation, and enhanced security, as highlighted in recent government updates.

Also present at the event were the Deputy Governor Dr Olayide Adelami, several commissioners including those for Women Affairs, Health, Energy, Agriculture, as well as chairpersons of key state agencies and media representatives.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has continued to garner recognition for his administration’s transformative efforts, including the pioneering “OUR EASE” initiative driving economic integration in the Southwest, key infrastructure projects, and strategic partnerships with major entities such as the Dangote Group aimed at maximizing regional development potentials.
