Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operatives in Jigawa State have arrested 22-year-old Aliyu Musa, a former Labour Prefect at a Dutse secondary school, for trying to pilfer vital laboratory apparatus. The suspect was caught red-handed attempting to remove five microscopes from the school’s main lab, following repeated complaints from authorities about missing items like conical flasks and additional microscopes.
Preliminary probes by NSCDC reveal Musa exploited his past position of trust to target the facility he once oversaw. In total, about 10 microscopes and 10 conical flasks had vanished prior, threatening the school’s educational resources. Spokesperson ASC Badruddeen Tijjani hailed the operation as a “timely intervention” that curbed further sabotage of learning infrastructure.
Musa now faces charges of criminal trespass and theft, with arraignment completed in a Dutse court. The Jigawa NSCDC Commandant warned against targeting schools, vowing heightened patrols under the Safe School Initiative. Residents are urged to report odd movements near educational sites to safeguard these vital spaces.
