No War in Ondo APC, As Party Leaders Assures of State Congress Tomorrow

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have dismissed reports of crisis within the party, insisting that the state congress will proceed as scheduled tomorrow in a peaceful atmosphere.

Speaking through the Working Committee Secretary, Comrade Ogonna Obiekwe said the committee’s task had been made easy following the successful screening of candidates.

According to him, the screening committee carried out its assignment creditably, with no petitions recorded and all aspirants cleared in line with the party constitution.

He announced that accreditation of delegates would commence by 8 a.m. at designated centres across the 18 local government areas of the state.

Obiekwe stated that every delegate must present their party membership slip for accreditation, adding that the congress would be conducted using the consensus mode of election.

He assured party members of the committee’s impartiality, stressing that the process would strictly follow the party constitution and the Electoral Act.

Also speaking, former APC State Chairman, Chief Isaac Kekemeke, described the ongoing process as part of the party’s long-standing political culture in Ondo State.

Kekemeke noted that since the formation of the party in the state in 2014, executive officers have largely emerged through consensus rather than ballot voting.

“What is happening is our culture. Ondo State is not at war. There is no war in APC,” he said, urging stakeholders to disregard what he described as misleading narratives on social media.

He maintained that disagreements are natural in party politics but should not be exaggerated into a crisis.

The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, also reinforced the message of unity, saying the state remains peaceful despite differing interests among party members.

The governor explained that political aspirations often create “push and pull,” but emphasized that members would ultimately unite after the congress.

He further clarified that there has been no directive from the party’s national secretariat stopping the exercise.

“We are a party of law and order. If there is any directive from the national headquarters, it will be obeyed,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor urged party faithful and observers to ignore alarmist reports online, noting that Ondo remains one of the most peaceful states in the country.

Party leaders expressed confidence that the state congress would be conducted smoothly and in line with APC’s consensus tradition.
