The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have extended the strike ultimatum earlier issued over the naira scarcity by 2 weeks.
NLC and its affiliated unions had planned to begin a nationwide indefinite strike from tomorrow, (Wednesday, March 29).
The workers union also planned on picketing of CBN offices across the country over the cash crunch that had brought untold hardships to Nigerians and businesses.
However at the end of its National Executive Council, NEC, meeting on Tuesday afternoon, leaders of NLC gave the CBN, two weeks to normalise the money supply nationwide.
This also follows a meeting between the leadership of the NLC, minister of labour and productivity, Chris Ngige ad CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele on Monday.
At the meeting, President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero had admitted that the cash crunch situation had improved considerably but that they need to monitor the compliance of cash disbursement through the commercial banks for two more weeks.
