The Nigerian Technology Ignited Investment Conference & Exhibition took place at York St John University Conference Centre in London, marking a significant step towards strengthening the nexus between Nigeria’s burgeoning technology sector and its diverse economic domains.

Hosted by the Nigerian Global Economic Summit, the conference was themed “Nigerian Technology Ignited” and underscored the pivotal role of technology in propelling Nigeria towards economic prosperity.

Highlights of the Summit:

In his opening remarks, Prince Afolabi Andu, Convener and Chairman of the Nigerian Global Business Forum spoke on the the critical role being played by Nigerian Technology professionals across the globe, he pointed out that their expertise could be quite pivotal in the upscaling of the Nigerian economy.

The official part of the presentation started with Mr Femi Ifebogun, an expert in AI and Robotics, addressing the evolution and potential of Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. Ifebogun in his presentation highlighted the significance of integrating robotics in education and the potential of predictive learning across sectors like Agriculture, Healthcare, Fintech, and Insurance.

The second speaker, Prof. Ikechi Agbugba, a visiting professor at Birmingham University, underscored Precision Agriculture and Brain Re-engineering Strategy, urging professionals to contribute to Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

With regards to Funding and Capital Ventures in the technology sector, Mr Ifeoluwaniyi Igunnubole, an investment analyst put a spotlight on support for tech start-ups and investment incentives in Nigeria.

In an engaging turn of the event, legal luminary, Dr Jennifer Obaseki took the podium, launching into the legal ramifications of intellectual property (IP) in the digital age. She adeptly interwoven the narrative of safeguarding digital identity, laying down the legal frameworks essential for protecting innovations.

Segueing smoothly into the health sector, Dr. Funmi Adewara, the globally renowned Tele medicine specialist captured the audience’s attention with her revelations on cutting-edge developments in digital therapeutics and telemedicine. Her passion for digital health advancements was palpable, painting a picture of a future where healthcare is accessible and efficient.

Next was Engineer Georgina Ayoola, a highly respected UK-based electronics and software engineer who transitioned the discussion towards Nigeria’s potential to become a powerhouse for electronics, emphasizing the importance of establishing a robust electronics technology centre. She linked the assembly of electronics to the tailored needs of Nigeria, fostering a sense of community and bespoke innovation.

The highly respected IT architect, Sam Bode Odeyemi took the stage, shifting gears to explore the intersection of law and technology. He provided thought-provoking insights into how technology enhances access to justice and streamlines business operations, stirring the audience to consider the broader implications of technological integration.

The dialogue took a serious note as Cyber Security expert, Mr Wale Oluwasanya addressed the looming shadows of security and cyber threats. He underscored the importance of national intelligence and the urgency of cybersecurity, resonating with the collective concern for safeguarding national interests.

In a compelling discourse on business and technology, Digital business guru Mr Sam Onigbanjo highlighted the crucial role of security in social media to maintain brand integrity. His talk was a reminder of the stakes involved in business success and the pivotal role technology plays in it.

Increasing the momentum, award-winning inventor, Engineer Ade Andu, with visionary foresight, advocated for a robust innovation agenda, including the establishment of innovation hubs. His perspective underscored the need for a systemic approach to fostering creativity and technological advancement.

Dr. Robert Attuh continued the drive with his emphasis on data-driven innovation, elucidating its significance for national growth and the importance of data in government sectors, calling for a data-centric approach in policy and decision-making.

Bringing the focus back to foundational skills, Software authority, Engr. Julius Popoola addressed the audience on the imperatives of education and training in software development. He stressed the urgency of equipping the Nigerian youth with the necessary skills to thrive in a digital economy.

In conclusion, top Data Analyst, Ms. Abiola Obileye, with a blend of statistics and forecasts, presented a compelling case for the potential impact of technology on Nigeria’s economy. She highlighted the digital skills gap, setting the tone for a strategic discussion on bridging this divide.

The event left guests present with renewed hope as the light to a promising economic future for Nigeria had been ignited.

In a further development following the hugely successful Technology Conference, the Head of Business Development at the Nigerian Global Business Forum announced the formation of Greystone Technologies Global. This consortium represents a monumental leap in IP value and reflects the ambitious spirit of globally owned Nigerian technology companies, signalling a new era of strategic partnerships and technological synergy for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
