State Police Debate: Retired DIG Calls for Deep Reforms and National Standards

Although the retired DIG acknowledged the widespread fears regarding political weaponization of State Governors by state Policing which is also prone to foisting disunity, he nonetheless cautioned that the rules and standards must remain national to prevent a collapse into regional despotism.

It would be recalled that the concept of community policing which was a fallout of recommendations by the Senior Executive Course 40 of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, has since 2018 been approved via a White Paper by the Federal Government and is currently being implemented within the Police structure.
