Victoria Island, Lagos – Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled a major drug trafficking operation utilizing an 80-room hotel in the upscale Victoria Island area of Lagos as a distribution hub for illicit substances. Following an extensive search of the five-story building known as The Hook Hotel, also operating as Caesar Hotel and Caesar Lounge, located at 16 Waziri Ibrahim street, off Elsie Femi Pearse street, authorities seized 589 bags of “Canadian Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis weighing 417.3 kilograms. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is ₦1.0425 billion.
The NDLEA operation, conducted between Friday, April 25th, and Saturday, April 26th, 2025, resulted in the arrest of three suspects: Eze Ayitu, Ofuokwu Samuel, and Emmanuel Ameh. Two other individuals, identified as Noble Philip and Kenneth, are currently at large and are being sought by the agency.

In addition to the substantial drug seizure, the NDLEA recovered several items suspected to be proceeds of the illegal drug trade from the hotel premises. These include a Toyota Prado Landcruiser Jeep (registration number Lagos AKD 472 OZ), a Toyota Sienna Vehicle (Lagos KJA 79 HJ), a Volkswagen Delivery Van (Lagos AAA 525 JE), a Kia Ceranto Car (Lagos BDG 860 GQ), a Grand Caravan Dodge (Lagos APP 847 YF), 74 new television sets, 10 used television sets, and 13 refrigerators.
Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media & Advocacy for the NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja, confirmed the operation in a statement released on Sunday, April 27th, 2025. He stated that the agency’s successful raid underscores its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and dismantling criminal networks operating within Nigeria. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and further unravel the extent of the drug syndicate.
