The trauma centre is a generous donation by Alhaji (Dr.) Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa, OFR, an illustrious son of Ijebuland and a national icon. Governor Abiodun lauded Dr. Adegunwa’s extraordinary philanthropy, describing the gesture as a legacy of selfless service that will impact generations. He called on other Nigerians to emulate such visionary contributions to community development.
Reflecting on the hospital’s transformation since 2019, Governor Abiodun highlighted the deplorable state of OOUTH upon his assumption of office. Promptly declaring a state of emergency, he initiated reforms based on expert recommendations, reconstituted the governing board, and partnered with stakeholders like Dr. Adegunwa to achieve this remarkable turnaround.
The Governor also expressed optimism about the Federal Government’s plan to establish 8,800 Primary Healthcare Centres nationwide, aligning with Ogun State’s vision for sustainable healthcare development. He emphasized that healthcare remains a fundamental pillar of progress and urged purposeful partnerships to build a system that works for all.
This commissioning coincides with Dr. Adegunwa’s 80th birthday celebration, marking a dual milestone for Ogun State and its people.
