A 30-year-old man, Bello Abduquadri, has been sentenced to death by hanging by an Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti for his involvement in armed robbery.
Abduquadri was brought before the court on March 8, 2023, facing charges of conspiracy and armed robbery.
He was accused of robbing Owolabi Taiwo of his phone and Jincheng Lady Motorcycle at gunpoint and with a cutlass on March 22, 2022, in Ado Ekiti.
During the trial, the victim recounted being attacked by two armed men who threatened him and his brother before robbing them.
The matter was reported to the Amotekun’s office, and subsequently to the police, leading to the arrest of the defendant.

The prosecutor, Adeola Johnson, presented three witnesses and various exhibits including the defendant’s statements, motorcycle particulars, and receipts.
Abduquadri, represented by his lawyer E.K. Adetifa, pleaded for leniency but did not present any witnesses.
In his judgment, Justice Olalekan Olatawura found Abduquadri guilty of both conspiracy and armed robbery.
He sentenced him to seven years imprisonment for conspiracy and death by hanging for armed robbery.
Justice Olatawura concluded, “May God have mercy on your soul.”
