Lagos Unveils ‘SCRIPT’ Blueprint to Revolutionize Education Standards

​IKEJA — The Lagos State Government has launched a high-tech strategic roadmap designed to eliminate manual bottlenecks and elevate the quality of learning across the state’s primary and secondary schools.

​The initiative, spearheaded by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), was officially unveiled Wednesday at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Ikeja. At the heart of the reform is a move to automate private school registrations—a shift officials say will curb human interference and modernize the state’s regulatory oversight.

​The SCRIPT Framework

​The Director-General of the OEQA, Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa, revealed that the new era of school monitoring will be driven by the “SCRIPT” framework. This acronym represents:

• ​Revenue & Improved Governance: Ensuring transparency and resource management.
• ​Technology: Driving the total automation of school audits and monitoring.

​”This policy simplifies our mandate: Regulate, Evaluate, and Monitor to Improve Schools,” Dr. Ogunmuyiwa stated, noting that the plan was born from a comprehensive review of the agency’s operations during his first 100 days in office.

​Aligning with the THEMESS Agenda

​Commending the initiative, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, described the document as a “forward-looking” policy that aligns perfectly with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMESS development agenda.

​He emphasized that the transition to digital platforms for school registration is a game-changer for proprietors. “This represents a renewed OEQA that is more focused on partnering with agencies to ensure the future of education in Lagos is secure, credible, and globally competitive,” the Commissioner said.

​Standardizing Outcomes

​The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, added that the strategic plan is not just about administrative ease but about measurable results in the classroom. She noted that structured planning and data-driven decisions are the only ways to ensure that government policies translate into better grades and safer environments for students.

​The launch drew support from former OEQA leaders and administrative directors, who called on the agency’s staff to embrace the digital shift to ensure the ambitious goals of the SCRIPT framework are met within the 2026 academic calendar.
