LAGOS – In a chilling revelation that has sent shockwaves through the Ikorodu community, two suspects have confessed to the cold-blooded murder of 17-year-old Thomson Adams. The perpetrators, Anthony Oghenetega (21) and Elijah Emmanuel (23), admitted to strangling the teenager on April 29, 2026, simply because he was “able to recognize” them.
The Lagos State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner CP Tijani Fatai, apprehended the duo in the Lucy Fibre area of Ikorodu following a intelligence-led operation. The investigation has peeled back the layers of a disturbing criminal pattern, linking the pair to a series of abductions and killings in the state.
A Deceptive Invitation
The tragedy began when the unsuspecting victim was lured to Oghenetega’s apartment under the guise of friendship. According to confessions made during a police briefing on Wednesday, Adams was treated as a “guest” before the suspects turned on him.
”He was treated like an old friend, unaware of our intentions,” Oghenetega admitted. “We had chains, padlocks, and a ‘Ghana-must-go’ bag ready.”
The suspects’ original plan was to record a video of the boy in chains to extort a ransom from his parents. However, the fear of future identification sealed the boy’s fate. Validviewnetwork.com reports that the suspects made the calculated decision to eliminate the 17-year-old to ensure no witness remained to link them to the crime.
A Brutal End
The details of the murder are harrowing. Oghenetega described a coordinated assault involving a “conga” and a nail-studded stick. As the victim panicked, the suspects used WhatsApp to coordinate their movements within the room. After a failed attempt by Oghenetega to strangle the boy, Emmanuel reportedly took over until the teenager ceased breathing.
To dispose of the body, the suspects employed a deceptive tactic, posing as musicians moving equipment. They placed the remains in a large bag and rode on separate motorcycles, pretending to head to a gig with speakers and microphones to deflect suspicion from neighbors.
A Pattern of Violence
The arrest has brought some closure to previous cold cases. Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo was responsible for the kidnapping and murder of a female victim on November 30, 2025. In that instance, the family paid a ransom of ₦300,000, yet the victim was still killed.
Validviewnetwork.com reports that the Lagos State Police Command is currently processing the case files to ensure the suspects face the full weight of the law in court. CP Fatai reassured the public that the command remains committed to purging the state of such “cold-blooded elements” who prey on the vulnerable.
The suspects remain in custody pending their formal arraignment.
