Lagos APC Takes Tinubu-Hamzat 2027 Campaign to Nigerians in Chicago

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has extended its 2027 campaign mobilisation to Nigerians in Chicago, United States, as the party begins building support networks beyond Nigeria’s borders.

The engagement took place in Chicago following the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Diaspora, Chicago chapter, according to a statement released by Ayodele Tinubu, publicity secretary of the diaspora campaign committee for the Tinubu-Hamzat ticket.

The campaign message was delivered by Gbolahan Gbadamosi, Director of the Lagos State APC PBAT-KOH Special Duties Committee, Diaspora.

APC United Kingdom chairman Tunde Doherty was also present alongside members of the Nigerian community and party supporters.

What happened in Chicago?

Gbadamosi urged Nigerians living abroad to engage their families, communities and networks in Nigeria on government policies and the 2027 election.

He highlighted what he described as reforms and interventions by the Tinubu administration in the economy, education and infrastructure, while also calling for continuity.

Regarding Lagos State, he similarly argued for continuity in the state’s development trajectory and presented Hamzat’s experience in Lagos governance as relevant to the campaign’s message.

Doherty also urged support for Tinubu, Hamzat and other APC candidates.

Why the diaspora campaign matters

The Chicago event should not be confused with an overseas voting exercise.Its immediate purpose, according to the organisers, is mobilisation, communication and engagement with Nigerians who maintain family, community and political networks in Nigeria.

That distinction matters because Nigerians resident abroad do not simply cast votes in US-based polling stations for Nigeria’s general elections.

The campaign is therefore targeting influence through networks, political communication and engagement with voters at home.

The Chicago event forms part of a broader diaspora mobilisation effort by the Lagos APC campaign council.
