Mushin Mourns Baba Alado as Taoreed Faronbi Dies at 83

Mushin lost one of its long-standing community and grassroots political figures on Saturday, September 26, 2026, with the death of Chief Taoreed Faronbi, popularly known as Baba Alado.

Faronbi was 83.

He died in the early hours of Saturday, according to reports on his death. His family subsequently announced the death, and he was buried according to Islamic rites.

Who was Baba Alado?

Faronbi was the Olori Ebi of the Alagbeji Royal Family in Papa Ajao, Mushin. He also held traditional and commercial titles, including Akinrogun of Isolo Kingdom and Babaloja of Aswani International Market.

For decades, he was involved in Mushin’s grassroots political, social, transport and real-estate circles.

He was also associated with the National Union of Road Transport Workers.

MC Oluomo leads tributes

Among those who mourned him was NURTW National President Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

In an official condolence statement, MC Oluomo described Baba Alado as a man who “made his mark” and whose contributions and relationships would remain remembered.

His funeral also attracted Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, Mushin Local Government chairman Tunbosun Aruwe and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA chairman Oluseyi Jakande.

Musicians including K1 De Ultimate, Osupa Saheed and Alabi Pasuma had also maintained social connections with the late Mushin figure.

Baba Alado’s importance to the community was not based on one office. His influence cut across traditional family leadership, transport, real estate, social networks and grassroots politics.

That explains why his death drew reactions from several different circles rather than from a single political or professional constituency.
