Kumuyi Meets Pakistan’s Grand Imam in Landmark Interfaith Visit

In a striking display of interfaith goodwill, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry and convener of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK), recently paid a courtesy visit to Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Kabir Azad, the Grand Imam of Lahore’s historic Badshahi Mosque in Pakistan.

The Nigerian cleric travelled to Pakistan for a series of evangelistic programmes organised in partnership with Pastor Anwar Fazal, founder of Eternal Life Ministries and the Isaac Television Network. Upon arrival in Lahore, Kumuyi was received with notable warmth. Through his host’s connections, he was introduced to the Grand Imam, who personally welcomed him and guided him through the mosque’s historic precincts.

The Badshahi Mosque, one of the largest and most significant Mughal-era mosques in South Asia, has previously hosted high-profile visitors including members of the British royal family and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Kumuyi’s presence inside its walls marked a rare encounter between a prominent African Christian leader and a senior Pakistani Muslim cleric.

During the meeting, the Grand Imam presented Kumuyi with a book addressing the fight against terrorism. Observers described the gesture as symbolic of a shared desire for peace and mutual respect between communities of different faiths. Video footage of the visit, shared by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry and circulating widely on social media and YouTube, shows the two leaders interacting cordially within the mosque complex.

Kumuyi’s trip to Pakistan forms part of the broader Global Crusade with Kumuyi outreach. Earlier programmes in the country, including a major crusade in late 2025, drew tens of thousands of participants and reported significant numbers of new commitments to the Christian faith. The latest visit continues that engagement while adding a clear interfaith dimension.

In comments surrounding the trip, Kumuyi expressed appreciation for the hospitality of the Pakistani people and gratitude to Pastor Fazal for facilitating the connections. The encounter has been widely noted in Nigerian Christian circles as an example of building bridges through personal relationship rather than confrontation.

The visit underscores a simple yet powerful message: that people of different religious traditions can meet as fellow human beings, exchange symbols of peace, and affirm a common interest in a world free from fear and extremism.
