- Devastating Toll: At least 16 people were killed and over 130 injured when a crowded shopping complex in Kryvyi Rih was struck during peak operating hours.
- Deliberate Targeting of Rescuers: A signature “double-tap” tactic saw a second wave of explosive drones hit the exact location 30 minutes after the initial impact, specifically targeting firefighters and medical personnel.
- Widespread Casualties: Local authorities confirmed that 23 children were among the wounded, with dozens of individuals remaining in critical condition and search efforts ongoing for the missing.
The central Ukrainian industrial hub of Kryvyi Rih is reeling from profound grief following a calculated and brutal aerial assault on a prominent local shopping center. The attack, which unfolded in broad daylight while the facility was packed with shoppers and families, utilized a ruthless “double-tap” maneuver.
According to regional officials, a second wave of explosive drones targeted the wreckage approximately half an hour after the initial strike. This secondary impact was strategically timed to inflict maximum casualties among the emergency responders, firefighters, and civilian volunteers who had rushed to pull survivors from the flaming debris.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fiercely condemned the assault on his hometown, labeling the perpetrators as “monsters” executing a calculated act of terror. The tragedy compounds a broader, severe escalation in regional aerial bombardments that have recently struck civilian and industrial infrastructure across Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv.
International partners and European Union diplomats have unified in strong condemnation, classifying the campaign as “terror by design” and signaling increased diplomatic pressure on Moscow. Meanwhile, Ukrainian leadership continues to press Western allies for urgent shipments of advanced air defense interceptors to protect urban population centers from ongoing long-range bombardment.
