​The Kano State Hisbah Board has officially outlawed the downloading and distribution of movies via mobile devices across all 44 local government areas of the state. This directive, announced on Thursday by the board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, is positioned as a measure to safeguard public morality and uphold the state’s cultural and Islamic values.

The Hisbah Board, a state-sanctioned body responsible for enforcing Sharia-related regulations, claims that the consumption of such “indecent” content is a primary driver of moral decadence among the state’s youth.
