​The Kano State Hisbah Board has officially outlawed the downloading and distribution of movies via mobile devices across all 44 local government areas of the state. This directive, announced on Thursday by the board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, is positioned as a measure to safeguard public morality and uphold the state’s cultural and Islamic values.

​The prohibition comes in response to rising community complaints regarding the circulation of pornographic and offensive video materials. The Hisbah Board, a state-sanctioned body responsible for enforcing Sharia-related regulations, claims that the consumption of such “indecent” content is a primary driver of moral decadence among the state’s youth.

The board has confirmed that personnel have been deployed to conduct routine patrols and enforcement operations throughout the state to ensure strict compliance. Dr. Aminuddeen issued a firm warning that any operator found violating this directive will face legal action in accordance with Kano State law.
