Ike Turner Jr., the Grammy-winning musician and son of legendary music duo Ike and Tina Turner, has died at 67. He passed away on October 5, 2025, in a Los Angeles hospital due to kidney failure after a protracted battle with heart problems and a stroke suffered just last month. His passing was confirmed by Tina Turner’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, who described Ike Jr.’s health struggles and acknowledged his distinguished career in music production and sound engineering.

Born in 1958 to Ike Turner Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, Ike Turner Jr. was later adopted by Tina Turner during her marriage to Ike Sr., becoming one of the four children in the Turner family. While he grew up surrounded by his parents’ groundbreaking musical careers, Ike Jr.’s family life was marked by turmoil. He witnessed his father’s violence toward Tina Turner, an experience Tina later said scarred all their children.

Following Tina Turner’s separation and eventual divorce from Ike Sr. in the late 1970s, Ike Jr. briefly worked as Tina’s sound engineer. However, this professional collaboration ended under tense circumstances when Ike Sr. reportedly used violence to stop the partnership. Tina Turner, in her autobiography, described growing estranged from Ike Jr. and her adopted sons after the divorce, which became permanent when Tina moved to Europe with her new husband.

Despite the personal difficulties, Ike Turner Jr. achieved recognition in the music industry, winning a Grammy Award in 2007 for Best Traditional Blues Album for his technical work on his father’s posthumous album Risin’ with the Blues. He also played in tribute bands honoring his father’s legacy and contributed significantly to managing the family-owned Bolic Sound Studios.

His later years were plagued by serious health challenges, including chronic heart conditions and kidney failure. In 2023, Ike Jr. faced legal troubles related to drug possession, shortly before Tina Turner passed away in 2023. Despite their strained relationship, Tina Turner provided financial support for her sons but rarely maintained contact.
