ValidViewNetwork gathered that the governor was speaking about his personal religious experience and how it shaped his understanding of confronting threats within society.

“I started casting out demons at 17,” Okpebholo said in the video.

The governor’s account places the beginning of that experience during his teenage years, long before his entry into elective political office.

From religious experience to security

Okpebholo linked the experience to his present approach to insecurity, drawing a connection between the spiritual language of casting out demons and his determination to confront security challenges.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the statement is a personal account by the governor and should be understood as such.

The video does not, by itself, establish any independent assessment of the governor’s religious claims.

Rather, it records Okpebholo describing his own experience and the way he connects that experience with his public responsibilities..

Why the statement is attracting attention

The remarks are likely to generate discussion because they combine personal religious testimony with the language of governance and security.

Okpebholo assumed office as Edo State governor in November 2024 after winning the September 21, 2024 governorship election. His reference to his teenage religious experience therefore offers a glimpse into how he describes the personal background behind some of his views on insecurity.
