Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal says he has no sleepless nights over his administration’s performance and is confident that the state will deliver more votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election than it did four years earlier.
Lawal made the declaration during a media interaction in which he was asked whether unfinished business in governance kept him awake as governor.
His answer was emphatic. He said he was satisfied with the direction of his administration and had no reason to lose sleep over the political consequences of his record.
“I SLEEP VERY WELL”
Lawal said he was not a desperate politician and remained confident about his political future based on what he described as the achievements of his administration.
He said: “I’ve never had sleepless nights. First of all, I am not a desperate politician, and based on what we have done, I am 100% convinced that 2027, by the grace of Almighty Allah, nothing will change.”
The governor said his confidence was also informed by what he described as the positive response of Zamfara residents to his administration’s programmes.
He added that he remained focused on the state rather than attempting to speak for politicians or voters elsewhere.
“MAXIMUM VOTES” FOR TINUBU
Asked how many votes Zamfara would deliver for Tinubu in 2027, Lawal declined to put a precise figure on the expected tally.Instead, he promised what he described as the maximum possible support from the state.
“By the grace of Almighty Allah, I will deliver maximum votes to Mr President. I can’t speak for any other state,” he said.
He went further, saying Zamfara would surpass its 2023 presidential vote for Tinubu.
“I mean, we’ll give him the highest, more than what we did in 2023. By God’s grace, it will happen,” the governor said.
A POLITICAL PROMISE, NOT YET A VOTE
Lawal’s declaration is a political commitment from the governor, not a prediction that can be independently established before the election.
The actual 2027 result will depend on voter turnout, party mobilisation, the candidates on the ballot, campaign dynamics and the decisions of Zamfara voters.
His statement nevertheless carries political significance because governors remain influential actors in Nigeria’s electoral mobilisation.
For Tinubu, a stronger performance in Zamfara would represent an increase from his 2023 showing in the state.
For Lawal, the pledge also places political responsibility on his administration to translate its claimed popularity into actual electoral support.

The governor’s confidence also places renewed attention on the connection between governance and electoral support. His argument is essentially that the performance of his administration will determine how residents respond politically.
That proposition will ultimately be tested at the ballot box.
ValidViewNetwork reports that Lawal’s declaration is one of the increasingly direct signals of how state-level political alignments are taking shape ahead of the 2027 elections.
His promise to deliver “maximum votes” for Tinubu is clear, but the more consequential question will be whether Zamfara voters share the governor’s assessment of his administration and his preferred presidential candidate.
