FUOYE Appoints Dr. Sunday Saanu as Communications Director

​The Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has announced the appointment of Dr. Sunday Saanu as the new Director of Communication and Corporate Affairs. A seasoned media professional and image management expert, Dr. Saanu brings over two decades of experience within the Nigerian university system to the institution.

​The appointment, ratified during the Council’s meeting on January 30, 2026, was officially communicated in a letter dated February 17, 2026, signed by the University Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim. Dr. Saanu will serve a five-year term, leading the university’s strategic communication, public relations, and corporate branding initiatives.

​A Proven Track Record in Academic Diplomacy

​Dr. Saanu is widely regarded as a “consummate insider” in university administration. Before his arrival at FUOYE, he served with distinction as the Chief Information Officer at the University of Ibadan (UI), where he was a trusted media assistant to four successive Vice-Chancellors.

​His professional journey also includes a significant stint at Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo. During a recent sabbatical at ACU, he was lauded by the university management for his “meticulous prose style” and his ability to navigate complex institutional crises through strategic communication.

​Beyond his administrative acumen, Dr. Saanu is an academic powerhouse. His credentials include:

• ​PhD in Cultural and Media Studies (University of Ibadan)
• ​Master of Communication Arts (MCA) and Master of Arts (MA)
• ​Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Language Arts
• ​Full membership in the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR)

​With FUOYE entering a new era under the leadership of its fifth substantive Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, the appointment of Dr. Saanu is seen as a strategic move to bolster the university’s global visibility and strengthen its stakeholder engagements.
