The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde has charged the new students of the University to put in their very best, shun violence and cultism, in order to come out in flying colours.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations of the University, Kolawole Adepoju, the admonition by the Vice-Chancellor was made during the orientation programme for the newly admitted students in the University.
“Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Christian IKeobi welcomed the newly admitted students saying they are lucky to find themselves in the best University that is reverred for excellence in Nigeria and Africa.
“He admonished the students to put in their very best, shun violence and cultism,in order to come out in flying colours.
While emphasising the success stories of the University, the Vice-Chancellor further stressed that FUNAAB has a foundation of excellence in the areas of Teaching, Research and Extension Services.
“We have run this University with the highest standard of excellence in the past 36 years of its existence”.
Speaking in his capacity as the DVC (Academic), Prof. Christian IKeobi encouraged the students to take maximum advantage of the benefits of University education. In his words, : ” University education helps to broaden the horizon and also opens windows of opportunities”.
Prof. Ikeobi, a former Dean, Students Affairs, tasked the students to be job creators and not job seekers after their years of study, stating that University education helps the students to interact with the world openly, freely and dynamically.
The new students were encouraged to bring dynamism into their world and be disciplined in academics, moral and social facets, not forgetting that FUNAAB has zero tolerance for indiscipline.
The University Registrar, Dr. Hakeem ‘Bola Adekola being the custodian of the rules and regulations took the freshers on the history of FUNAAB, University management and Student Relationship.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun admonished the newly admitted students to be involved in social activities on campus, charging them to shun activities that can disturb their academics.
