The Nimbe Adedipe Library at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is undergoing a significant transformation aimed at enhancing the academic experience for both students and staff. In a move widely praised by the university community, Management has completed the installation of modern air conditioning units across key reading sections.
The initiative, driven by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Olusola Kehinde, targets high-traffic areas to ensure a more temperate and inviting atmosphere for research and study. Among the prioritized zones are the Osunkeye Food and Mutation Units, the Nimbe Adedipe Collections, and the Career Unit.
The University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, expressed deep appreciation for the Vice Chancellor’s intervention, noting that the improved climate control is expected to significantly boost library patronage and student productivity. “A comfortable environment is a prerequisite for effective learning,” Prof. Owolabi stated, adding that these upgrades are a testament to the administration’s commitment to academic excellence.

Student Reactions and Aesthetic Facelift
The impact of the upgrade is already being felt by students from FUNAAB and neighboring institutions.
- Naomi Igbinidion, a student at the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, highlighted the “cool and welcoming environment” as a primary reason for her frequent visits.
- Olayinka Fatade, a Botany student at FUNAAB, lauded the management for modernizing the space, noting that the library now feels refreshed and revitalized.
Beyond climate control, the library is also undergoing an aesthetic overhaul. A fresh painting project has commenced throughout the reading areas, with FUNAAB students actively participating in the beautification process. Prof. Owolabi emphasized that these improvements are part of ongoing efforts to create a more conducive and inspiring learning environment for all library users.
