The State House of Assembly has approved the sum of 1.9 Billion Naira for State Government procurement of Christmas palliatives for the people of the state.
The approval was made today during the House plenary session presided by the Speaker Rt Hon Moses Ije Odunwa.at legislative Chambers Nkaliki Road.

Public Relations Officer, he said the authorization was followed the earlier approval by the State Executive Council members and the request of the Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru was considered appropriate by the Hon members of the State Assembly and granted the request .
Highlighting the importance of palliative to the people of the State, the speaker of the House Rt Hon Chief Moses Ije Odunwa said that the Christmas larges would go a long way in ameliorating the economic hardship experienced by most of the residents of the State.
He said that the unanimous approval received by the palliative request from members of the Assembly was evidence of its importance and expressed no regret for the approval.
Rt Hon Chief Odunwa further noted that understanding of Ebonyi people and acting in line with their yearnings was the true meaning of the People’s Charter of Needs of Governor Nwifuru and thanked him for always putting the people first.
On his part, the leader of the House Rt Hon Chief Kingsley Ikoro Representing Afikpo North West Constituency emphasized that the palliative would not only assist in cushioning the effects of fuel subsidy removal but more importantly help Ebonyi people celebrate the 2023 Christmas with peace of mind and brotherly love and appealed to his colleagues to the motion.
In the same vein, the member representing Ezza North West State Constituency, Hon Bar Chikaodiri Nome, the member representing Ohaozara West Hon Onu Ukpia, the member Representing Edda East Hon Stephen Orji, and his Ebonyi North West counterpart, Hon Bar Aloysious Nwodo in their appeal for the approval of the palliative request thanked the State Governor His Excellency Rt Hon Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for symbolizing peace, unity, and development in his administration saying that the palliative would also assist House members to extend hands of fellowship to their constituents during the yuletide season.
They further opined that the palliatives would assist house holds to enjoy the forthcoming Christmas celebration in spite of the economic hardship in the country.
Ealer the Leader of the House Rt Hon Kingsley Ikoro moved a motion for acceptance of the letter as a working document which was seconded by Hon Ifeanyi Nwakpu Representing Ikwo North Constituency.
After an exhaustive debate, the Speaker Rt Hon Moses Ije Odunwa puts the approval to question and it was unanimously approved,.
The Clerk was directed to do a memo to the Goverrnor conveying the position of the House.
