Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State conveyed a message of triumph to members of the Ijaw Youths Council Worldwide, declaring victory over adversaries who sought to undermine his administration.
Speaking during a gathering commemorating the 56th anniversary of the late Maj. Isaac Adaka Boro, Fubara expressed gratitude to the IYC and encouraged the Ijaw nation to join in celebrating the state’s liberation.
Addressing the crowd gathered for a solidarity walk to the Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara highlighted Boro’s legacy of championing equity, justice, and liberation for the Ijaw people.

He emphasized that every genuine Rivers indigene must embody the spirit of liberation, regardless of ethnicity.
Acknowledging the support of the IYC and the assurance of their commitment, Fubara emphasized the need for peaceful conduct and urged the youths to act as ambassadors of the Ijaw nation.
He declared that the administration had overcome its adversaries, reaffirming its dedication to governance and progress.
Fubara also pledged support for the IYC Eastern Zone, promising to provide a suitable secretariat in Rivers State.
The National President of IYC, Jonathan Lokpobiri, hailed the historic meeting between the Ijaw people and their governor on Boro Day, affirming their support for Fubara’s administration and warning against any attempts to disrupt governance in the state.
The Chairman of IYC, Eastern Zone, Tamuno Kpokpo, clarified that their visit aimed to offer support and safeguard the interests of Rivers State, emphasizing the council’s opposition to any actions that could disrupt peace and progress.
