Ilowa-Gbade Village, Oyo State – A violent clash between a farmer and a herder in Ilowa-Gbade Village, Atiba Local Government Area, Oyo State, has resulted in both men being hospitalized. The incident occurred on March 21, 2025, leaving 20-year-old Salau Isiaka and 25-year-old Akinkunmi Tiamiyu with serious injuries.
According to a statement released by the Oyo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, the altercation stemmed from a dispute over grazing rights. Preliminary investigations suggest that Isiaka allowed his cattle to graze on Tiamiyu’s cassava farmland, leading to a physical confrontation.
Isiaka sustained a severe head injury, while Tiamiyu suffered significant injuries, including the loss of two fingers on his left hand. Both men are currently receiving medical treatment at a local healthcare facility.
“Contrary to exaggerated reports, preliminary findings indicate that the altercation was a dispute between two individuals over grazing rights,” Osifeso stated. “The situation escalated when Isiaka allowed his cattle to graze on Tiamiyu’s cassava farmland, resulting in a physical confrontation. Both parties sustained serious injuries and are receiving medical care.”
The Command’s Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku is conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the full details of the incident.
