President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved ₦10.3 billion for the bulk purchase of Nigerian-made medications and diagnostic kits under the National Medical Relief Programme. This initiative, led by Health Minister Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, aims to enhance healthcare access, boost local manufacturing, create jobs, and support vulnerable populations across all 774 local government areas.

Key allocations include:₦997 million for third-line antiretroviral drugs.₦2 billion for locally manufactured diabetes diagnostic kits, marking a first in Africa.₦4.5 billion for essential medications like antibiotics and antihypertensives.₦2.1 billion for advanced medical equipment, including mobile X-ray machines and CT scanners
