Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has authorized the disbursement of N138.7 million for car and housing loans to 448 teaching and non-teaching staff of the state Teaching Service Commission.
This announcement was made in a statement from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission, Mr. Mike Omolayo, which was released to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Saturday.
According to Omolayo, successful applicants are required to obtain letters of introduction from their principals and bursars, and present their official identity cards along with photocopies of relevant documents to facilitate the payment process.
The repayment of these loans will begin from the June 2024 salary onwards.

This initiative by the state government is aimed at motivating teaching and non-teaching staff in public secondary schools to carry out their duties more effectively and efficiently.
Earlier this year in January, Governor Oyebanji had promised to address the issue of non-disbursement of car and housing loans to primary school teachers in the state.
Subsequently, in February, he approved N200 million for the disbursement of similar loans to primary school teachers in fulfilment of this promise.
This action was part of the governor’s commitment to ensuring that primary school teachers enjoy benefits similar to their counterparts in secondary schools across Ekiti State.
