The private life of Egypt national football team head coach Hossam Hassan has erupted into the public spotlight following an extraordinary physical altercation between his two wives at a luxury resort on Egypt’s North Coast.
The high-profile incident occurred at a cafe inside an upscale hotel in Marina El Alamein, a glamorous summer hotspot, where the football manager was enjoying a holiday. According to eyewitness reports and regional media, a verbal dispute between Hassan’s long-term first wife, Howaida Al-Gharbawy, and his second wife, Dina Mostafa (widely known as Dan Adam), rapidly escalated into a chaotic physical confrontation involving hair-pulling and minor injuries.
Resort Chaos and Conflicting Medical Reports
The confrontation drew immediate attention from stunned holidaymakers, hotel staff, and family members present at the venue. As security personnel and bystanders struggled to separate the two women, police intervention was ultimately required to restore order. Video clips of the chaotic scene quickly circulated across social media platforms, sparking intense speculation online.
Initial reports from outlets including Cadena SER and Al Arabiya suggested that the immense stress of watching his family clash in public caused Hassan to collapse and lose consciousness while attempting to intervene. However, legal representatives later pushed back against the severity of those medical claims. Speaking via Sky News Arabia, Hassan’s legal team denied rumors of a major health emergency, insisting that the national team manager remained in good health.
Formal Separation in Cairo
The fallout from the public dispute has brought swift changes to the manager’s domestic arrangements. Legal representatives confirmed that Hassan has formally divorced his first wife, Howaida Al-Gharbawy, signing the official separation papers at a legal registrar’s office in Cairo.
Mohamed Shams, a lawyer representing Dina Mostafa, addressed the developments publicly, noting that while a resolution through divorce was regrettable, the domestic tensions had reached an untenable threshold. Meanwhile, legal counsel for Al-Gharbawy’s family declined to elaborate on the separation, indicating that the family intends to maintain a strict media silence.
Hassan and Al-Gharbawy share a decades-long history and three children together. The couple previously experienced a brief 10-day separation in 2022 before reconciling, whereas Hassan married Mostafa in 2015.
The off-field controversy follows a busy sporting calendar for the Pharaohs’ manager, arriving only weeks after he led the Egyptian national team to the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
