Dwayne Johnson’s Hilarious Interview Slip-Up

Hollywood icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson found himself in an unexpectedly awkward spot this week while promoting the upcoming live-action adaptation of Moana. During a radio appearance on Kiss FM, the typically composed star suffered a comical blunder that left both the host and the internet in stitches.

The confusion began when presenter Tyler West asked Johnson, who reprises his role as the demigod Maui, about his favorite swimming “stroke.” The actor, seemingly caught off guard and perhaps feeling the fatigue of a rigorous global press tour, misinterpreted the question as being of an intimate nature. Without a moment’s hesitation, Johnson confidently fired back with a single, suggestive word: “Domination.”

The studio fell into immediate, uproarious laughter as the double entendre registered. Once the dust settled, West clarified that he was, in fact, asking about swimming technique. Realizing the magnitude of his misunderstanding, a red-faced Johnson collapsed into laughter himself, admitting to the listeners, “I just completely gave away my sex life.”

The star later took the mishap in stride, sharing the clip with his millions of followers on Instagram. Blaming the gaffe on the relentless pace of his current schedule, Johnson joked that his brain was operating on fumes. “Honestly thought he was asking about a different kind of ‘stroke’,” he captioned the post. “Jesus… I need carbs. And sleep.”

Fans have since flooded social media with praise for the actor’s candid and self-deprecating response to the blunder. It is a rare moment of levity for the production, which has spent the last few weeks in the headlines as Johnson opens up about the deeper emotional stakes of the film.

In recent interviews, the actor has shared that bringing the story of Maui to life has been a deeply personal journey, one that highlights the character’s vulnerability and cultural heritage. The live-action Moana, which also stars Australian newcomer Catherine Laga’aia, is set to make a splash when it arrives in cinemas this Friday, July 10, 2026.
