Tragedy as Lagos Police Finance and Admin Chief, DCP Khan Salihu, Dies

The Lagos State Police Command has been thrown into mourning following the sudden demise of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Khan Salihu.

​The senior officer passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026.

​His transition was officially confirmed in a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who described the loss as a profound shock and a deeply painful blow to the entire state command.

​A Legacy of Exceptional Service

​Throughout his tenure, DCP Salihu was widely recognized as a cornerstone of administrative efficiency within the Lagos State Command. As the head of Finance and Administration, he bore the critical responsibility of managing the command’s resource allocation, personnel welfare, and bureaucratic infrastructure—a role colleagues say he executed with flawless precision.

​In the official tribute, SP Adebisi lauded the late DCP as a highly disciplined, dedicated, and loyal patriot.

​”Throughout his distinguished career, DCP Khan Salihu exemplified diligence, exemplary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to duty. His wealth of experience, administrative acumen, and invaluable contributions greatly enhanced the effective management and operational efficiency of the Lagos State Police Command,” the statement read.

​The news has triggered a wave of solemnity across various divisional headquarters in Lagos, where Salihu was highly respected for his approachable leadership style and insistence on institutional integrity.

​Reacting to the tragic development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, expressed his deepest sympathies on behalf of the officers, rank and file of the command. CP Fatai extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, friends, and associates of the late senior officer, praying for fortitude during this exceptionally difficult period.
