The Nigeria Police Force has yet to arrest Ayodeji Akintade Ifeoluwa, popularly known as “AK,” an executive of the City Boy Movement in Ekiti State, despite his alleged link to the October 30, 2026, attack on African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore and members of his team in Ado-Ekiti.
The revelation comes as AK was spotted participating in activities surrounding the APC presidential campaign rally in Ekiti State on Thursday, less than a week after the violent assault, ValidViewNetwork reports .
THE VIDEO
Ifeoluwa and other individuals armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons were captured in video footage attacking the activist and his team .
Sowore, in a statement on Friday, publicly identified AK as the City Boy Movement’s Chief Security Officer in Ekiti State and accused him of participating in what he described as an assassination attempt against him and members of his team.
“This is Ayodeji Akintade Ifeoluwa, popularly known as ‘AK,’ the #CITYBOYS CSO in Ekiti State, one of the individuals we have identified as participants in the brutal assassination attempt against me and members of my team in Ado-Ekiti on October 30, 2026,” Sowore said. “To date, the Nigeria Police Force has not arrested him, despite the video evidence and information we have provided”.
THE RALLY
President Bola Tinubu was not physically present at the rally, held at the Ekitiparapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, but was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who led the APC delegation and delivered a message on his behalf .
The rally was also attended by Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, former governors Niyi Adebayo, Ayodele Fayose, Segun Oni, and Kayode Fayemi, alongside other party stakeholders and several members of the City Boy Movement, some of whom have been linked to the attack on Sowore and his team.
AK was seen among other members of the group, holding a yellow handkerchief while standing at the front of the stage .
THE ALLEGATION OF COVER-UP
Sowore has accused the Ekiti State Police Command of failing to investigate the alleged sponsors and organisers of the assault, insisting that the prosecution of the 11 suspects does not address the involvement of those who allegedly planned and financed the violence.
He has named several political figures, government officials, and security personnel whom he believes should be investigated, including Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the governor’s Chief Security Officer, CSP Ayodele Akinlua, former RRS commander CSP Marcus Olaosebikan Ogundola, former NANS president Sunday Asefon, and Federal Housing Authority Managing Director Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, who is President Tinubu’s son-in-law.
Sowore also alleged that the CCTV equipment from Tawakalitu Restaurant, where the attack occurred, was removed by police and DSS operatives, taken to the Government House, and returned with the recordings wiped .
WHY IT MATTERS
The presence of AK at the APC rally, days after he was captured on video wielding a machete in an attack on a presidential candidate, is a damning indictment of the police investigation.
If a man can be identified in video evidence, accused of attempted assassination, and still walk freely at a political rally attended by the Vice President and the state governor, what does that say about the rule of law in Ekiti State?
For Sowore, the message is clear: the system is protecting his attackers. For the police, the question is uncomfortable: why has AK not been arrested?

For Nigerians, the sight of an alleged attacker standing at the front of a campaign stage is a reminder that in Nigeria, justice is not always blind. Sometimes, it is looking the other way. ValidViewNetwork reports.
