Chrisland University Appoints Dr Ayoola Ajasa as Dean of Student Affairs

Chrisland University, Abeokuta, has appointed distinguished communication scholar and media professional, Dr Ayoola Olalekan Ajasa, an Associate Professor, as its new Dean of Student Affairs, effective August 1, 2026.

The appointment was announced in an official statement issued by the University’s Registrar, Mr Omotosho, dated Thursday, July 30, 2026.

The statement also confirmed the appointment of Dr. Blessing Oyedeji of the Department of Microbiology as the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs.

According to the University Management, the appointments underscore Chrisland University’s commitment to strengthening student welfare, academic excellence, and holistic development through visionary leadership.

Dr Ajasa, a respected academic in the Department of Mass Communication under the College of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (CAMASS), brings to his new role decades of experience spanning academia, administration, journalism, public relations, advertising, and media management.

The University described him as a distinguished scholar and dedicated member of the institution who possesses extensive experience in academic leadership, administration, and mentorship.

Management expressed confidence that his wealth of experience would further enhance students’ engagement and campus life.

In his new capacity as Dean of Student Affairs, Ajasa will oversee student welfare services, coordinate students’ activities, strengthen engagement between students and the University administration, and promote a vibrant campus environment in line with Chrisland University’s core values.

Before joining Chrisland University as an Associate Professor in April 2026, Ajasa served as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Southwestern University, Okun-Owa.

He had earlier headed the Department of Mass Communication at Christopher University, Mowe, while also serving in teaching and adjunct capacities at Babcock University, Mountain Top University, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, and the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (Lagos Campus).

His administrative credentials equally include serving as Provost of the College of Broadcasting, Abeokuta, as well as occupying senior management positions in Nigeria’s media industry, including Chief Operating Officer of Foreign Investment Network Magazine and Assistant General Manager (Advertising/Special Projects) at Financial Standard Newspaper.

He also spent several years with Post Express and Daily Times Nigeria.
An accomplished scholar, Ajasa holds a PhD in Mass Communication (Journalism and Media Studies) from Babcock University, an M.Sc. in Mass Communication from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, a First Class B.Sc. in Mass Communication from Babcock University, and a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from the former Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

Beyond the classroom, he has built an impressive academic profile with numerous publications in reputable national and international journals covering journalism, media management, artificial intelligence, digital communication, advertising, public relations, social media, political communication, and development communication.

He is also the author of several books, including School Branding, Great Teacher Great School, Leaders’ Attitude, and Classroom Management.

A member of several professional and scholarly bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), African Council for Communication Education (ACCE), Association of Media and Communication Researchers of Nigeria (AMCRON), and the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), Ajasa is widely respected for combining academic scholarship with practical industry experience.

Reacting to the appointments, the Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Professor Oyedunni Sola Arulogun, on behalf of the University’s Governing Council, Management, staff, and students, congratulated Dr Ajasa and Dr. Oyedeji, expressing confidence in their ability to advance the University’s vision of providing a supportive academic environment that fosters leadership, character, and excellence.

The University also appreciated the immense contributions of the outgoing Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Odunayo Taiwo, wishing her continued success in her future endeavours.
