Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has slammed Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly after the club sacked Graham Potter on Sunday.
Chelsea announced the shock departure of Graham Potter on Sunday evening with Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher tearing into Blues owner Todd Boehly for a number of decisions he has made at Stamford Bridge
Boehly only arrived at Chelsea last summer, replacing Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
The American brought in Potter from Chelsea’s Premier League rival, Brighton in September.
Potter put pen to paper on a five-year contract in West London, with Chelsea paying out a huge compensation package to his former employers Brighton in the process. He failed to inspire an upturn in fortunes with the Blues though and has now paid with his job.
Boehly sacked then-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and replaced him with Potter.
But after Chelsea’s Premier League 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa on Saturday, Boehly sacked Potter on Sunday night.
However, Carragher has now hit out at Boehly as he posted on Twitter along with two laughing emojis: “Todd said he would be different to Roman.
“I feel for Graham Potter, but it was inevitable. You don’t change Tuchel for Potter. Ridiculous decision to start with.”
It is unclear over who will be taking the reins from Potter in the long-term, albeit former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has been installed as an immediate favourite. For the time being, former Brighton defender Bruno Saltor has been put in interim charge.
