Canada-Based Prophetess Apologizes For Desecrating In-Law’s Memory

​Canada-based Nigerian cleric Prophetess Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue has issued a public video apology to her husband, Franklin Chimaobim Nwanorue, following widespread public condemnation over a fiery social media post celebrating the death of her mother-in-law, Comfort Chika Nwanorue.

​The controversy erupted earlier in the week when the self-styled prophetess took to Facebook to share the funeral banner of the late matriarch, labeling her a “wicked witch” and wishing her eternal damnation. The unsparing tirade drew swift and severe backlash from social media users, who heavily criticized the cleric for mocking a family bereavement.

​In her retraction video directed straight at her spouse, Ezinne expressed deep remorse for dragging his late mother into their marital friction.

​“I am making this video to apologise to my husband; I should not have done that, I am apologising for what I did and I know and hope my husband forgives me for that. Honey, I am very sorry for posting your mother on Facebook. And I ask for forgiveness, thank you so much,” she stated.

​This latest drama brings fresh spotlight to the couple, who previously trended online after a controversial pre-relocation condition set by Ezinne. The cleric had mandated her husband to publicly record himself swearing an oath of absolute fidelity before joining her abroad, declaring he would face sudden death if he cheated. Although Franklin complied with the stringent demand on camera, the union has since been dogged by online accusations of infidelity and bitter domestic feuds.

​As of press time, family representatives and Franklin Nwanorue have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the public apology.
