​Bryan Johnson’s Longevity Project Hit by Rare Gastritis

​Bryan Johnson, the 48-year-old tech entrepreneur famous for his relentless, multimillion-dollar quest to reverse his biological age, has revealed he is battling an incurable autoimmune disease.

​Johnson, who famously poured $2 million annually into his “Blueprint” longevity project—a regimen featuring dozens of daily supplements, constant biometric monitoring, and a team of 30 doctors—disclosed on social media that he has been diagnosed with autoimmune gastritis (AIG). In his characteristic, blunt style, the entrepreneur stated: “My stomach is eating itself.”

​The condition, which affects an estimated 2–5% of the population, occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the parietal cells in the stomach lining. This process impairs the production of stomach acid and the absorption of vital nutrients, such as iron and vitamin B12, often leading to anemia and, if left unchecked, an increased long-term risk of stomach cancer.

​For Johnson, the diagnosis is a humbling reminder of the limitations of even the most extreme medical surveillance. Despite his obsessive tracking, the disease remained silent for years, hidden behind what initially appeared to be minor, persistent iron deficiency. It was only after comprehensive diagnostic testing—including an upper endoscopy and stomach biopsies performed in May—that his medical team could confirm the source of his health issues.

​Johnson, who has previously made global headlines for experimental practices like “multigenerational plasma exchange” with his son, says he refuses to accept the standard medical consensus that AIG is an incurable condition to be managed rather than resolved.

​”Modern medicine has normalized too many conditions that erode our health… shrinking the goal to monitoring and management while a cure is rarely even attempted,” Johnson wrote in a post regarding his diagnosis.

​He and his team have already begun exploring experimental, non-standard approaches, including advanced cytokine profiling, T-cell subset analysis, and the use of AI-designed antibodies to potentially “reset” the immune cells responsible for the damage.

​While the medical community remains cautious, noting that such experimental interventions lack clinical evidence, Johnson remains defiant in his mission. He has pledged to document his battle with the disease, aiming to prove that even “incurable” conditions can be solved with modern biotechnology.
