Badenoch Launches Radical UK Plan to Deport 150,000 Illegal Migrants Annually

Kemi Badenoch, UK Conservative Party leader, has unveiled an aggressive new immigration strategy designed to reshape Britain’s border enforcement and deportation policies with what she describes as the “toughest reforms Britain has ever seen.” Her Radical Borders Plan proposes the annual detention and deportation of 150,000 illegal migrants under a new specialized Removals Force modeled after the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a video message shared on her social media, Badenoch declared a clear warning: “If you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported.” The proposed Removals Force will replace the existing Home Office Immigration Enforcement unit and be granted sweeping new powers, including the use of facial recognition technology without prior notice to identify and track undocumented migrants within the UK.

Badenoch sharply criticised both Labour and previous Conservative governments for failing to manage the migration crisis effectively, accusing Labour of overseeing record small boat crossings and wasting billions on asylum accommodations. She characterised the previous approaches as “pure weakness” and vowed that the Conservative Party alone has a “serious, credible plan” to secure Britain’s borders.

Key contentious features of the plan include banning asylum claims from illegal entrants, repealing the Human Rights Act, and withdrawing the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). The plan would also abolish immigration tribunals, reduce legal aid for immigrants, and reform the appeals process to be overseen by Home Office officials rather than courts.

Funding for the new Removals Force would double that of its predecessor, with a £1.6 billion annual budget to support intensified border enforcement efforts. The force aims to remove 150,000 unauthorized migrants yearly, a major increase from the estimated 35,000 deportations last year, with most former removals occurring voluntarily.

When asked about the destination of deportees, Badenoch dismissed such questions as “irrelevant,” stating they will return “to where they came from or another country,” without further details. Critics warn that such a vast deportation target may face legal, ethical, and logistical challenges.

The Radical Borders Plan signals one of the most radical shifts in UK immigration policy in decades, positioning immigration as a central issue ahead of the next general election.
