The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) branch, has lauded the institution’s leadership following its impressive performance in the July 2026 Webometrics Global Ranking.
In an official statement released by the union’s chairperson, Yinusa Ganiyu, the university community commended Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ayodeji Agboola and his management team for driving remarkable improvements across digital presence, research output, and overall global visibility.
Key Milestone Metrics
- Global Standing: Secured the 2,338th position out of over 32,000 institutions worldwide.
- Continental Standing: Climbed to 57th place across the African continent.
- National Standing: Claimed the 8th position among universities in Nigeria.
Sustaining Academic Excellence
ASUU emphasized that the recent leap is a direct reflection of purposeful leadership, staff dedication, and collective cooperation over the past four years. The union urged all stakeholders—including management, academic and non-academic staff, and students—to remain focused and avoid unnecessary distractions that could derail the institution’s ongoing progress.
”The interest of Olabisi Onabanjo University must remain paramount at all times. The responsibility for sustaining the current gains belongs to all of us,” the union stated.
