LAGOS — The Nigerian Army has clamped down on discipline within its ranks, arresting two serving personnel who allegedly took up unauthorized security and bouncer duties at the high-profile wedding of popular social media content creator Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, and fellow TikTok personality Jarvis.
According to military intelligence sources, the arrests were executed following widespread circulation of footage and reports detailing the unauthorized deployment of military personnel at the celebrity-studded event held in the upscale Lekki area of Lagos State over the weekend.
The arrested soldiers have been officially identified as Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa (with service number 23NA/85/10007), attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH), and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi (service number 23NA/85/7885), also stationed at the same medical facility in Obalende, Lagos.
Insiders revealed that the duo was picked up on Tuesday morning following swift directives from higher command to investigate military personnel caught moonlighting in civilian spaces, particularly in roles that bring disrepute to the uniform.
The military high command has consistently warned officers and soldiers against hiring out their services for private security, VIP escort, or bouncer duties at social gatherings, noting that such unprofessional conduct violates extant armed forces regulations.
An internal military inquiry into the incident has since commenced, and the suspects are expected to face disciplinary court-martial proceedings upon the conclusion of investigations.
