Adeniyan Sustains Education Support for Widows’ Children in Ondo Media

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, has once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of media families by presenting the 8th edition of his educational support fund for children of widows in the state’s media space.

Adeniyan handed over a cheque to the Chairperson of the Ondo State chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, as part of the ongoing initiative that provides financial assistance for the education of children of late journalists and female journalists who are widows.

He also presented a mobile phone to the NAWOJ chairperson to support her official duties.

The gesture continues a programme Adeniyan launched in April 2024. At inception, he donated ₦500,000 to ten beneficiaries (₦50,000 each) and pledged to sustain the support at the start of every academic term for as long as he remains Chief Press Secretary. Subsequent editions have expanded the number of beneficiaries and the total amount disbursed, with NAWOJ consistently praising the consistency and compassion behind the effort.
In earlier presentations, Adeniyan has repeatedly linked the initiative to the media-friendly disposition of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, noting that the support reflects the administration’s appreciation for journalists and their families. NAWOJ, under Gbadamosi’s leadership, has described Adeniyan as a rare public servant whose empathy extends beyond official duties and has repeatedly prayed for continued divine reward for his selflessness.

The latest presentation reinforces a pattern of practical intervention that eases the burden of school fees and educational expenses for vulnerable media families in Ondo State. By combining financial support for the children’s education with a personal gift to the NAWOJ leadership, Adeniyan has underscored both institutional and individual solidarity with women journalists and the families of departed colleagues.

The initiative remains one of the more consistent private interventions supporting media welfare in the state and continues to receive warm appreciation from the beneficiaries and the association.
