ABEOKUTA – The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, has entered a new administrative era following the official assumption of office by Dr. Olusola Adebisi as the new Head of Clinical Services (HCS).

Dr. Adebisi takes over the strategic clinical leadership of the tertiary health institution from the outgoing HCS, Dr. A.S. Adediran, who successfully completed his four-year statutory tenure.
A Smooth Transition of Leadership
The transition was formalized during a poignant handing-over ceremony held at the hospital’s HCS secretariat. Reflecting on his time in office, the outgoing clinical chief, Dr. Adediran, acknowledged the intense demands of managing the clinical operations of a major federal medical center, while expressing absolute confidence in his successor’s leadership capabilities.
”The seat is challenging and the workload is enormous, but I have no doubt that Dr. Adebisi has the capability to hold the position,” Dr. Adediran remarked.
While formally presenting the transition documents and handing-over notes, Dr. Adediran urged the entire hospital workforce to rally behind the new administration, pledging his own continued loyalty and support to the institution.

Deep Roots and High Ambitions
In his acceptance address, Dr. Adebisi paid glowing tribute to his predecessor, characterizing Dr. Adediran as both a mentor and an approachable leader who managed the complex office with uncommon simplicity.
Dr. Adebisi, whose professional history with FMC Abeokuta spans decades, emphasized his deep emotional and professional ties to the hospital.
”I love FMC so much. I have been here since I was a House Officer, and I want to serve and make it work,” the newly minted HCS stated. “I pray God helps me to do my best and exceed my predecessor.”
Institutional Support
The high-profile event drew key stakeholders from across the hospital’s administrative and medical echelons. Among those in attendance were:
- Mr. E.K. Apanisile, Director of Administration
- Mrs. A. Fagoyinbo, Head of Nursing Services
- Executives of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN)
- Dr. Olunuga and Dr. Nathaniel Oni, alongside various hospital chaplains and well-wishers.
Speakers at the briefing commended Dr. Adediran for his humility and inclusive governance style, while charging Dr. Adebisi to maintain an open-door policy by listening to staff at all levels of the organization.

The administrative transition concluded with a formal closing prayer led by Dr. Jabez Akindipe, signaling the official commencement of Dr. Adebisi’s tenure.
