ABUJA – The leadership of the House of Representatives has led a wave of national tributes to celebrate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as he marks his 74th birthday today, March 29, 2026.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, in separate congratulatory messages, described the President as a “master strategist” and a “pro-democracy icon” whose administration has successfully steered Nigeria toward a path of fiscal consolidation and sustainable growth.
A Legacy of “Courageous Decisions”
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Speaker Abbas lauded the President’s transition from a seasoned public administrator to a transformational national leader. He noted that Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” has moved beyond conceptual stages into tangible results, specifically citing the 2026 “Budget of Consolidation” recently presented to the National Assembly.
”President Tinubu confronted inherited systemic challenges with unprecedented courage,” Abbas stated. “Today, we see the foundations being reset. Revenue flow to states has improved, transparency in procurement is at an all-time high, and our security coordination is yielding a safer environment for all Nigerians.”
The Speaker further emphasized that Tinubu’s ability to build a “network of progressive Nigerians” remains his greatest strength, ensuring that current reforms outlive the present administration for the benefit of future generations.
Shaping the National Trajectory
Echoing these sentiments, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu highlighted the President’s role in repositioning Nigeria on the global stage. Through a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogwu, Kalu remarked that the President’s 74th year coincides with a pivotal era of infrastructure expansion—referencing the progress of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the “Renewed Hope Cities” housing initiative.
”His Excellency’s visionary leadership has shaped our nation’s destiny,” Kalu said. “The economic initiatives anchored on the Renewed Hope Agenda are not just policies; they are lifelines that have begun to stabilize our economy and restore the confidence of the global community.”
2026: A Year of Milestones
The President’s 74th birthday comes at a time of significant administrative activity. Tributes from across the political spectrum have highlighted recent successes, including the steady decline of inflation toward the 15% target and the successful launch of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFund), which has expanded access to higher education for thousands.
In Abuja, the anniversary was preceded by a national art exhibition titled “A Nation in Portraits,” celebrating the President’s contributions to democracy. Supporters have also pointed to the ₦58.47 trillion 2026 budget as evidence of the administration’s commitment to “shared prosperity.”
