The convoy of the All Progressives Congress lawmaker representing Gezawa/Gabasawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Muhammad Chiroma Nalabara, was on Saturday attacked by angry youths in Garuruwa, Gabasawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The incident occurred during a campaign-related visit to the community, with the youths protesting what they described as the lawmaker’s failure to address their needs, ValidViewNetwork reports.
THE ATTACK
Videos circulating on social media showed dozens of youths marching along a major road, some carrying long wooden sticks and clubs.
They were heard chanting in their local dialect, expressing frustration over the alleged lack of development and basic amenities in their community.
The protesters pelted the convoy with objects, forcing the lawmaker’s vehicles to retreat.
The incident was brought to public attention by an X user, Bakatsine (@DanKatsina50), who shared a video of the attack on Saturday .
THE AFTERMATH
As of the time of this report, neither Nalabara nor the Kano State Police Command had issued an official statement on the incident. It also remained unclear whether anyone was injured or any arrests had been made .
WHY IT MATTERS
The attack on the APC lawmaker’s convoy is a sign of the growing frustration among Nigerians with elected officials who are seen as disconnected from the communities they represent.
In Kano, as in other parts of the country, constituents are increasingly demanding accountability and tangible development.
When those demands are ignored, anger boils over.
For the APC, the incident is a warning that the 2027 campaign will not be conducted in a vacuum.
Voters are angry, and they are not afraid to show it. The youths of Garuruwa did not throw stones at a convoy. They threw stones at a system that has failed them.
Until that system changes, the anger will not dissipate—it will only grow louder.
