Social media personality Hauwa Saidu Mohammed, popularly known as Jaruma, has been in police custody since Monday over comments she made on social media concerning an alleged disagreement involving Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and a woman Jaruma described as one of his girlfriends.
The case has seen the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre impose stringent administrative bail conditions that sources say are difficult to meet, while prosecutors have initiated criminal proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
THE BAIL CONDITIONS
Documents obtained from the NPF-NCCC in Abuja show that the police bail document, dated October 23, 2026, requires two sureties: a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 15 and a business owner with landed property within the Federal Capital Territory.
The sureties must provide identification documents, National Identification Number slips, passport photographs, employment or business records, and other supporting documents.
They are also required to undertake to ensure that Jaruma is available whenever investigators require her.
A source familiar with the matter told reporters that the conditions were handed to her knowing she could not meet them.
“They were handed to her knowing that she can’t meet the conditions, these conditions were given to effectively prevent her release before the weekend,” the source said.
THE CRIMINAL CHARGES
More significantly, a charge sheet obtained shows that the Inspector General of Police has initiated a two-count criminal case against Jaruma under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015, as amended in 2024.
The charge sheet, dated October 23, 2026, lists prosecutors attached to the Legal/Prosecution Section of the Nigeria Police National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.
According to the first count, the police allege that between July and September 2026, Jaruma used her TikTok account, Jaruma Mansa Musa, to transmit abusive messages, false allegations and videos concerning the personal affairs and office of Rayan Ghassan Kamal .
The second count accuses her of using the same platform to harass Kamal and damage his reputation and that of his employer.
Kamal is said to be Seyi Tinubu’s personal assistant.
Both counts cite Section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act, as amended.
THE COMPLAINANT AND THE LEAK
Although the charges concern Jaruma’s alleged social media activities involving Kamal, the charge sheet does not identify Seyi Tinubu as the complainant or establish that he personally ordered her detention.
However, sources learned that a bodyguard attached to Seyi Tinubu was also implicated as the alleged source of information leaked to Jaruma.
The bodyguard reportedly appeared at the National Cybercrime Centre on Monday but was not detained .
THE ARRAIGNMENT
Sources familiar with the case told reporters that arrangements were being made to arraign Jaruma on Monday .The planned arraignment could leave her in police custody throughout the weekend despite the issuance of administrative bail conditions, the sources alleged .

The circumstances surrounding her reported detention, the bail requirements and the planned arraignment raise questions about the process, although the documents obtained do not establish that the bail conditions were deliberately designed to prevent her release.
WHY IT MATTERS
Jaruma is no stranger to controversy. She has built a public profile on provocative social media content and the sale of “kayamata” products, and has been involved in numerous public feuds.
But this case is different. It involves the son of the President, the National Cybercrime Centre, and a charge sheet that could lead to a criminal conviction.
The stringent bail conditions—a Grade Level 15 federal civil servant and a business owner with landed property in the FCT—are not impossible to meet.
But they are designed to ensure that only sureties with significant standing can secure her release.Whether the charges are a legitimate response to cyberbullying or an attempt to silence a critic of the President’s family is a question that will be answered in court.
ValidViewNetwork reports that Jaruma remains in custody. The arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
