A 22-year-old Aberystwyth University student has avoided immediate imprisonment after pleading guilty to possessing a disturbing collection of child sexual abuse material and extreme bestiality images sourced from the dark web.
Elisha Chikwezvero appeared at Swansea Crown Court, where sentencing was handed down following admissions to multiple serious offences. Court proceedings confirmed that Chikwezvero admitted to making 79 indecent images of children over a prolonged period between September 2022 and December 2024.
The illicit collection included 45 Category A images, representing the most severe classification of child sexual abuse material. In addition to these offenses, the defendant admitted to possessing 36 extreme pornographic images involving animals, alongside a separate charge for possessing a prohibited image of a child. Law enforcement uncovered the materials during an operation in Aberystwyth.
Despite the gravity of the charges, the bench opted against an immediate custodial sentence. Chikwezvero received an eight-month prison term, which has been suspended for 18 months.
As part of the court order, the student must complete mandatory rehabilitation activity requirements and perform 150 hours of unpaid work within the community.
